The artist has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to protect the United Kingdom's independent live music spots.
He was given the cheque on mid-October as his third album the album was declared the top album of the past year.
Fender has chosen to give the cash to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his early career.
"I personally would not have achieved this success if it weren't for all the performances I performed around the area, and further afield, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are facing challenges."
From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
Recently, major artists including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.
He also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to help numerous grassroots venues across the UK.
These funds supported venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to challenges caused by floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.
Additional spaces obtained funding support in modernizing infrastructure and technical equipment that directly benefitted artists and fans.
"The idea that funds from performances in large arenas helps the local stages, where it begins for musicians like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.
The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his Mercury Prize winnings to charitable organizations.
Back when Pulp earned the prize in the mid-90s for their release their work, lead singer the singer announced that the group would give their cash to the organization War Child.
That year, artist Ms Dynamite shared her award among multiple charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.
"Additionally, I donated a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite told a publication.
In recent years, the band gave their prize money to the youth organization that developed their group, in addition to other local music groups.
And 1994 winners the group donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the disease.
"Receiving the award was ample," stated artist Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our victory touched somebody else's life."
Last week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.
The Joiners in the city and the second in the city were purchased under the Own Our Venues program, which is funded by the arts council and supporters who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
