19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his initial championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since spring of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.
His defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
